Loving Father,
How can we doubt your love for us,
How can we question your eyes upon us.
When we doubt we need only look to the stable,
When we question we need only think of Christmas.
There we see the lengths that you will go to for us,
There we see in the son of God wrapped in baby cloths
And when we hurt in our lives,
When life gets tough,
We can rest in you,
Confident in the knowledge that you understand,
Because you have been there,
You have felt as we have felt,
You know the joy of laughter and friendship,
And the sorrow of loss and the pain of hurt,
And in the midst of all,
You continue to love us.
Lord, You are for us,
You reach out to us,
You the maker of all things,
You who saw the beginning of the stars,
You who watch the first stumbling steps of the world
You care for each of us,
You love each of us enough to pay any price and make any sacrifice for us to know your nearness
Lord,
We worship you,
We praise you,
And we long to know your love grow in our lives.

As we gather in the midst of advent,
We come praising you for Jesus the child of Bethlehem who became the saviour on the cross,
The risen Christ who commands us to go
into all the world with your gospel.
And as we gather today, Lord,
We give thanks that our faith is an on-going process
rather than a one of declaration,
You haven’t finished with us yet Lord,
There is so much more you have in store for us,
You have many wonders and treasures
of faith to reveal to us still.
Father we praise you that we live a faith
that does not just look back to what has been,
But a faith which also looks forward
to the return of Jesus in all his glory as your son.
For just as you promised all those
Old Testament generations that the messiah would come, And made good on that promise at Bethlehem, So today you promise us with that same surety that Jesus will return again.
Father, We rejoice in the future we have in our faith,
And we rejoice in the announcement that Jesus will return. Lord God we praise and honour you in worship.
